Within six months of your child’s first tooth eruption, schedule their first dentist appointment. This initial visit will include an evaluation of your child’s tooth growth pattern, a preventive dental health program to keep your child’s teeth and gums healthy, and information about what to do in a dental emergency.

When to Go For Composite Fillings
Even at an early age teeth could get cracked, fractured, or decayed and when this happens it is time to go for composite fillings. To repair a tooth in this way, your dentist will remove the part of the tooth that is either cracked or decayed and then fill it with a composite filling.
Completed in a Single Dental Visit
Repairing teeth with composite fillings is both fast and painless. A filling will usually be completed through a single dental visit and your dentist will perform the repair when the tooth is numb. First, the dentist will remove the decayed or cracked part of the tooth, clean the space thoroughly then prepare it before placing the composite filling.
Should the crack or decay be close to the tooth’s nerve, the dentist will apply a special medication to provide additional protection.
Color & Shape Matching
Composite fillings are made to match the color and shape of your teeth. They are therefore polished and shaped with great precision and the restored tooth takes its original shape. The tooth also functions as well as it did before getting decayed.
In the initial days after a filling is placed, most people suffer from sensitivity to cold and hot but this discomfort disappears after a short time when the tooth acclimatizes to the filling. To help in the acclimatization, your dentist will give instructions on how to take care of your filling.
To make a composite filling work well, it is recommended that you observe good oral hygiene and proper eating habits in addition to visiting your dentist regularly.
